Our distribution and storage facility operates under programs that monitor product temperatures, ensure proper product rotation and follow manufacturing guidelines for the storage of each product type – all managed by a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).

Programs are also in place to ensure product quality and safety through proper supply chain management, including:

  • Receiving, storing & loading procedures
  • Sanitation & housekeeping procedures
  • Foreign material control
  • Training for food safety & personal safety
  • Export procedures
  • Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs)
  • Recall & traceability procedure, including food safety alerts & recall messaging
  • Crisis management
  • Pest control program
  • Product hold program
  • Allergen control program
  • Food defense program, including visitor restriction policies

Certifications & Inspections

All food safety programs implemented by General Produce are developed from a risk-based approach using HACCP principles, and meet current regulatory requirements as well as SQF certification.

Additionally, our facility is routinely inspected by FDA, USDA, California State, Sacramento County and Sacramento City agents as required by health and food safety regulations. General Produce is also certified as an Organic Produce Handler by Oregon Tilth.
