Locally Grown

Environmental, social, health, and economic concerns are all drivers of consumer and market demand for locally grown produce. At General Produce, our Locally Grown Program is driven by our long-standing relationships with local growers and our goal to preserve the personal and distinctive places of origins of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Independent, small-scale, large-scale, and family farms contribute to our regional abundance and wide variety of peak of the season product. Simply put, buying local is investing in the future of the produce industry.

We are proud to support local farmers and producers who produce seasonal and fresh products by:
  • sourcing their products whenever possible
  • providing them with access to larger volume marketing channels
  • acting as a conduit for food safety programs
All of these efforts help local farmers stabilize cash flow and scale up their productions by combining direct to consumer sales with sales to foodservice, institutions, and retail food markets.
